Soccar weekend last Sat, and found myself with time to kill between
games. After a slow walk through those *other* sections, I found the
drum area. They had a really nice Yamaha electric kit with somekind of
spongey head setup. Pricey, but a nice kit. They had a Yammie acoustic
kit with a flat finish that looked nice too. I think they were RockKit
or something like that. I don't know if I'd like the mahogany shells
though. Then I found the Sabian factory reworked cymbals. Has anyone
seen these? They are re-turned/milled former models. It was explained
to me that Sabian uses returned, for whatever reason, cymbals and cuts
them down to remove cracks or problems, and then re works them for
resale as a different animal for a cheaper price. You can see hand
hammered bells on reworked bows. They even had what they thought were
reworked marching cymbals. Strangest thing I've seen in a long time.
Sabian has nothing on their site about them either.

Yeah, the local drums store here in Austin (Jeff Ryder's Drum Shop) carries a
selection of those. I love Sabian cymbals and I've been kinda curious about
them, but I haven't tried any yet.
