I've been playing a set of CB700's for decades, I'm suddenly
interested in trading up to a new set. I am somewhat picky about a
few items. I do not want a snare. I want a bass drum, two mounted
toms and one floor tom in specific sizes. I want a certain color and
finish. I think I want maple shells. I do not want any hardware,
stands or pedals other than the tom mounts. If it's a quality brand
I'll be happy.

I believe finding this stripped down dream set is going to be
difficult to find - used. I also want to sell my old dums (6 pc no
snare) without hardware. Difficult to sell as well?

Craigslist is your friend. You might also be surprised at prices of
new drums if you look at just "shell packs." Guitar Center, Musicians
Friend, Sam Ash and lots of other dealers sell just shell packs that
are kick, toms and snare. You could always resell the snare, or keep
it as a backup if you like it.

I'm picking one up myself this week. I'm looking at a bunch of
different birch options.

Building your own drums can be a fun adventure in patiience,
retstraint, artistic exhuberence, and humbleness. Oh, and sometimes a
bad word or two will slip out.
