Anyone got any tips for swapping quickly between brushes and sticks
(and back again)? I'm particularly interested in a jazz scenario where
the head is played with brushes, but solos are accompanied with
sticks, reverting back to brushes for the head out.

Which hand leads? Where do you put the brushes? And how not to
completely fluff it up with a clatter of sticks as the sax player
launches into a solo ;o)

Thanks,
Rich.

Hi Rich,
I keep all of my different types of brushes and mallets to the left of my hi
hat on one of those standing Peter Erskine stick bags. They may not be made
anymore since they were made by Yamaha and Peter is now playing DWs. IT is a
great little invention. BTW, don't be so conventional with your uses of
colors. The music is much more interesting when you change things up! :-)

Schuh doesnt know a fucking thing--O have seen him pkay,he dropped a stick
once, and grabbed a brsuh, then dropped the other stick to get the other
brush. Schuh cannot play drum patterns at all--he flounders around on the
drums like a carp out f the water--take no advice from this puckered
asshole.

Maybe Shuh is a hack? I cannot tell you, and that's perhaps your
personal opinion?
When I see him play, then I'll tell you, otherwise all bets are off, and
the internet, and this forum is basically full of shit!

If your're a drummer, that likes switching between sticks, and brushes,
then I would imagine there's gotta be somebody who still makes the
brush-stick combo? Maybe a maker like Capella? Think Louie Bellson.
