I really like the way my snare and floor tom sounds with a towel on it but I
don't want to use tape to keep the towel from flying off. I figure that
tape could cause harm to my drum's finish.

Any suggestions since I don't know of a rubber band that is wide enough to
keep it in place? Thanks in advance!

Yeah. First thing, decide on which towel will be your drum towel. Now cut it
so the towel part, when played, has the right tension. Take the four corners
and tie them into a knot. Place a rubber band of the correct length above
the knot, loop it inside itself, then loop it over the bottom lugs of the
snare. tThis should hold it in place without much problem. The trick is to
size the rubber band enough to give you the tension you want on it.

Call Robert---he will come over and deposit a layer of Cum on the head that
will melt the plastic to the towel--NOBODY plays with a towel on the
heads---better try the tuba
