That is my bid of $560., but it was not enough. I contacted the seller to
see what the reserve was and was told he had $3500. in them, wanted $2600.,
but would take $2000. without cases. Is delusional too strong of a word?

He invested $3500 in those drums?! That's like $1200 for the kick, $700 for
the 14, $600, for the 12, and $500 for the 10, with a few extra hundred to boot
for hardware and cases! That dude got bent over good, and now he wants to do
the same to somebody else. But it "could be a great collector's item", so if
you wanna take that bet you might get your money back in 30 or 40 years.

he made a mistake not selling it to you. $560 is just about right,

it might someday be a collectors item but most likely not, it is
demented when these people attempt to speculate on the future through
present sales to others. who benefits from the risk and who profits?
he is not just an idiot but also a piss poor conman.

Delusional is not too strong of a word. For Starclassic Maples, a 4pc shell
pack should get him about $800 - $900 in excellent condition. I would pay no
more than about $600-700 for these, regardless of the 'fact' that they will
someday be worth millions. ;-)

I have 3 SC Maple kits, and about a year and a half ago, I got a brand new
condition 18x20, 14x16, 12x14, 8x12 for $740 with 3 Tom/Cymbal stands, and 2
boom cymbal stands. I clearly didn't need another kit, but wanted to snag a
drum or two to match my other kits. I ended up keeping it, but I really
should sell at least some of the drums!
