This time, with cases, instead of trash cans, and nice Sonor drums inside.

Don't hate me 'cause I'm beautiful. :-)

So, what impressed them most at the audition, your rig or your playing? :-)

The rig only impressed the other drummers. :-)

The audition was "all about the music", eh? No points for your efficiency and quick
tear-down and setup? Sheesh... :-)

Considering that the drummer is usually the guy everyone else is waiting
on, who knows? Maybe I did score some points.

But trust me, no audition is "all about the music."
If you're very lucky, it is actually *some* about the music. :-)

I could tell they did care about the music quite a bit for this one, but
they also cared about...
- looks. I ain't pretty, but I ain't ugly. I'm not overweight and I'm
not balding... which leads to...
- age. I'm at a point in life where I definitely don't look 20-sumpin,
but I don't look near my age, either.
- what I looked like *playing.* Any time they whip out a flip-cam,
they're considering showmanship)
- how you interact/get along with others. you're on stage for a couple
hours, the rest of the day, you gotta hang with each other.
- a myriad of other mysterious things that are way beyond my control, so
I don't give them a second thought.

So yep, it was pretty much all about the stuff that really "matters". That's why I put

Even though they seemed to care about the music...
I guess if two guys show up who both play great, it comes down to that
other stuff.

Pat McDonald told me a story about an audition he went to, early in his
time here in Nashville. I think we'd all agree that you won't find a
*better* drummer than Pat in this town.

Pat's a bald white dude. He walks into the rehearsal room and the band
has two bald white dudes. He said to himself, "there's no way I'm
getting this gig. No one's gonna have 3 bald white dudes in their band."
He totally smoked them in the audition, but he was right, and didn't get
the gig.

Nice job Mike. So how long does it take you to pack this thing up? For
my Hardware I use and old AMF leather golf bag I got from Goodwill
about 15 years ago. I like the fact that it has handles and that it
doesn't collapse since it is like a hard shell case. It is designed to
provide easy access to golf clubs so it works pretty well for adding
or removing hardware and I don't have to shrink down my stands when
returning them to the golf club bag which is a plus. Prehaps you can
mount one on the back of your hand truck.:-)

Mike, it's literally 10 minutes, when I'm on the ball.

I wouldn't want to do a bag on the back, because the hard case acts like
a skid plate for the whole thing when going on stairs or in-n-out of the
van.

However, I'm considering a bag for the front/drums.
