I guess that YES will be opening the show for Peter Frampton at the
big Blue Ash 4th of July bash. The YES website calls it Co-headline.

Everything I've heard about these shows has it the other way around; Peter Frampton opening
up for Yes.

You would think so. On the website it says Yes will close the shows
not marked with **....and sure enough this show is marked with **.

I've seen them perhaps 20 or more times throughout the years and I
remember the big tours with the lasers...wakeman dressed in
fringe...staged in the round etc.
Those were the days.

I first saw them in Chicago in '72. The hands were setting the stage and
then the lights went out. When the lights came back up it was the same
hands, now with instruments. "Hi, we're the Eagles". They had just hit the
radio with Take it Easy. As far as Yes goes, great show. Technology
certainly has advanced though. Wakeman was wearing a wizards cape and hat,
but the real crazy thing was his set-up. He had a huge patch bay behind him,
and every time he wanted to change sounds, he had to turn around and
re-patch the board. I'll never forget that.
I saw them about a year ago and they have Wakemans son on keys, and a guy
singing that does a really good job for them.

Yes 6 PM | Peter Frampton 8:05 PM

He's been adopted as a local boy, pretty active in the community. No
way he'd be asked to be the opening act for a performance like this,
here.

I just saw Yes at Summerfest in Milwaukee on the 2nd. They were
spectacular. They played lots of stuff from the Yes album. The
highlight of the evening for me was "and you and I". Close to the
edge is it for me. They did nothing off the very challenging Relayer
album. Tempos got a little slower over all but hey these guys are not
spring chickens any more. If they come around your neck of the woods
go see them.

Yeah, I heard Jon Anderson isn't with them so I said Feh! On another
note, I totally missed that Jeff Beck was in town right before Clapton
hit the stage with Gadd in tow.

I missed it all. Bleh.

I did go to the drum corps show in Dublin fair city (yeah right) last
night. It was good, the facilities were ok, the people running the show
had no clue. The 'entertainment' by Carolina Crown was a bunch of pop
schlock played along with pre-recorded tracks, ensemble style, with the
rest of the corps dancing. It was absolutely horrible. Then they
decided to give door prizes away (why not do this at intermission or
instead of the 'entertainment'?) By this time, folks were leaving in
droves, including me. Didn't wait for the scores, and they did not do a
parade with the groups on field. Too hot for the kids I guess.

So at the end 2 $22 tickets, re-entry not permitted, no outside the
stadium porta johns, so IF you wanted to see groups warm up you had to
do that before you went in, and Lord help you if you had to go potty.
Such a nice campus, though. They gave away their programs, you figure
they could sell them for a few bucks and put a few porta johns outside
the venue, hey?

Next up Phantom Regiment at Fairfield, OH's Summer Music Games.

Oh, and someone shouted out when Bluecoats came on, "They're always
ready!" This man obviously has no idea this is to refer to the all male
Cavaliers and Scouts... AN yet another person yelled, "This is your
house!" What about Capital Regiment? How soon they forget... Last I
checked, Canton was about 2.5 hours away from Cow-lumbus.

We did go to Starliner Diner (thanks again, -MIKE-) and had the chili
and I had a Cuban. Mmmmmmm...... Other than that the Columbus trip was
pretty much a bust IMHO.
