I'm looking for a kick pedal that will allow me to move the beater somewhere
other than in front of me on the floor. What I'm visualizing is something
that has the kick pedal unit connected to a cable like used for brakes on a
bicycle to another assembly that has the beater, which would then clamp to
the drum rim.
I need this to hit a tupan, an early type of bass drum, for my
medieval/renaissance percussion rig. The drum will sit to my right side on a
short stand. (Imagine a short waiter's tray stand or the bottom of a
directors chair with the arms removed) But since I'm blind I can't look at
pictures on the web, and I'm not sure just how to describe this for a web
search. I figure a six foot cable should do the job, though I might be able
to get away with something shorter.
Has anyone out there seen anything like this, and if so, has anyone used
something like this, and how well does it work? I know something like this
would require that I keep a couple of tubes of graphite handy at all times
to lubricate the cable, assuming of course that there's not some other
design that will do this for me.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
