Someone just called my studio and asked how much I would charge to come to
his house and assemble a brand new Pearl drum set. It's about a 25 minute
ride, each way. What would you charge?

How much do you make per hour average on gig's and teaching?
Say it's 25.00. $50.00 travel time + 1 Hour on site = $75.00 Add 20.00
for gas
and your at 100.00 bucks. This is how I do all my calculations but then you
have to
say is that reasonable? Eat the gas and include nice guy factor make it
$75.00?
Potential customer? All things have to be considered. How's your schedual?
Do you really need the work? If it were me no less then $75.00. I am
thinking
$85.00 is fair. That's cash of course. ;o) However if I smell they have
money
it's an auctomatic 100.00. When I use to do service calls I would scope the
home out.
If I see they have money the price goes up! give them a sliding rate like
between 75 and 100.
If the dude has porche in the drivway they go for the higher amount.

I'd say $100, knowing your basic geography (Brewster area still?).
$100 sounds high, but it costs that much to have the local Geek Squad
come out from Best Buy to set up a new TV and plug it into your AV
receiver. In fact if there's any push-back, that would make a good
reference point for comparison. I'd never pay for that either, but I
thought enough about at one point it to look it up on their website :-)

Thanks for your input, guys. I quoted $75 and he said he'd call me when the
kit arrives (it's in transit). He also asked if I give lessons, so it may
end up being a student, as well.

Thats what they pay for club gigs around here and you don't have to
play for four hours. Good luck Chris.
