My GOD I love this thing.

My normally heavy main band (prog, odd-meter stuff for which I usually
use heavy electronic drums) started playing more acoustic material,
mainly to make gigging easier and to simplify our writing process, so
I somewhat skeptically picked up a cajon to blend better with 2
acoustics and 3 voices...

Now I'm completely addicted. Extremely portable, pretty versatile, and
miced properly (which is dead simple), you can get some great sound
out of them.

Perhaps the best part is that it also makes a good throne, so I've
taken to sitting on it when at the kit. Being able to throw a kick
drum in while playing it is pretty cool as well.

I need to come up with better padding though, sitting on a wooden box
for 2-3 hours can get pretty painful :]

It's also a great ab/oblique workout, as you're constantly leaning
over to different degrees to play all of the different tones it can
make.

Welcome back fnord.

I play a little cajon as well as bodhran, dejembe, and other hand
stuff from time to time.
