I want to record our gigs and have found this ADAT. It's old tape
technology, but beyond that, I don't have a clue. Any one out there
have any experience with this piece of gear? Thanks.

You can make a very nice 16bit 44.1 khz (or better if it's a later
version ADAT) recording and then either mix directly from there or
with the proper interface, dump it to computer.
But this is a joke right? Have ADATS really been forgotten already?

Maybe I could get a good deal on one. Computers suck.

You could use the ADAT, but hard-disk recorders are so cheap now and
some have built-in mic pre's. Zoom has a nice one that records 8
tracks at once and saves to memory cards, runs on batteries even.

I used one just for the ADAT to feed my hard-disk recorder. Got it
super cheap. then went with a Behringer ADDA for cheap too, plus it
had mic pre's built-in.

I'm now using a Macbook and a Presonus firewire + the Behringer.
