Yes, money can buy you a band but it'd be better spent on drum
lessons.

That almost sounded set-up.
And what's with the band? Did they all go to Lenscrafters together or
what? :-)

That's his Joaquin Phoenix impression where he's acting like a totally
spaced out higher then God artistic genius....or something.

And that band he's playing with......those are about THE simplest drum
parts ever.

I couldn't watch more than a minute or so of the interview, and watched even
less of the song. It looks like he kind of knows what he's doing on drums,
but his time is awful.

That interview was either a total "put on", or BBT is just a complete
asshole (or both). It seemed as if he were on strong prescription drugs. I
can't shake the suspicion that this was a pre-planned publicity stunt, and
it's clearly working.

Yuk, he's consistently dragging the pace.
Just when the music should lift, he falls off the back of the beat and
leaves the groove dead in the water.

His 2000 film "All the Pretty Horses" was such a failure that he said
he'd never direct another film again. Wonder how bad his drumming has
to get before he says the same thing about being in a band.

I'll bet that he will never get any honest criticism until some live music
reviewers pan the band and him in particular.

You're all 100% correct. Snide, envy-driven whining and sniping sounds
so much better than a bloke cutting loose with some mates and doing
something he clearly loves, for an appreciative audience.

On the other hand, I can't find so much charity in my heart for the
camera operator.

I haven't seen any interview. My guess is that he must have claimed to
be the next Steve Gadd or something - that would clearly justify most
of what has been written here.

If you could sit through his music, congrats. I couldn't.

Well, maybe if you watched the interview to which we were referring
(http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/Music/04/09/billy.bob.thornton.interview/index.html),
you would have a clue. But feel free to keep guessing, instead.

He's an asshole, and he sucks. But most importantly, he's an asshole.
