I've been 'kicking' around the idea of getting a new double pedal, and the
one that seems the most interesting to me is DD. I like the direct linkage
to the pedal board, although I think a lot of people are exaggerating the
potetial benefits. I also like the convertable foot board - just because I'd
like to try a long board for a while, but I'd hate to be stuck with it if it
turns out it's not working for me.

I really like the U-joints on the DD - it addresses something which has been
an obvious weakness of typical double pedals since the beginning: the
tiniest amount of play at the U-joint turns into a lot of slop at the beater
simply because the beater is so much further from the axis of motion. My
Tama IC had the U-joints wear out after a few years, which I think is too
early when I don't really play that much - usually no more than 10 hours a
week. I'm hoping that the design on the DD will be a lot more durable.

Anyway - now that the DD has been out for while, I thought I'd see who is
using them and how they feel about the pedals now.

Thanks,
Sean

And the Ninja bearings!

I have not tried one but I am very interested in getting my feet on one.

And the Ninja bearings!
Oh yeah - the skateboard bearings. I did this on a Tama pedal back in the
early 80's. Definately smoothed it out. I also borrowed another skateboard
trick - using graphite powder as a lubricant instead of oil. With oil any
dirt that gets in, stays in till it wears out the bearings. Graphite powder
keeps it slick and dry at the same time.

I have tried one and I really liked it - but the real test is with time of
course. Sometimes the thrill wears off, if you know what I mean.

Yea I used graphite power on my sons cub car years ago. I will try it on
the bearing on my pedals.

I was thinking of this pedal as well but went with the Gibralter
Intruder direct drive peda insteadl. Doesnt have the convertable
footboard but for $279.00 shipped to my front door I can't complain.
Still fine tuning it as it is getting better and better with each
adjustment. $279.00 for this versus the $600.00 plus Pearl. For what
musicians are getting paid these days I went with something more
affordable and I am very happy with this pedal. Mainly I wanted direct
drive so I figure this was a cheap alternative and I have too mention
this thing is built like a tank as well.
