Just got a Galaxy bag for my 18" kick and already don't like it. I
should'a gone with the bags I already know like Beato Cuduro or
Protection Racket... just wanted something cheap and I got what I paid
for, but sheesh why can't they put a couple more inches of zipper in
it so the bag can stay standing when it's open? I can already tell
I'll be cursing at this thing while trying to hold it up with a
knee. :-/

That's all. Just wanted to rant in front of some other drummers.

I've had a 24" Galaxy bag for maybe 8 years now and, well the good new is
that it's still usable, but I have had one of the seams pop where the starp
pulls on it. A 24" kick is a bit heavier so it may be just that it can't
handle the extra weight.

Other than that though, it's actually held up longer than I expected, and I
do a lot of shows so it's been hauled around quite a bit.

It's been reallly quiet around here, so even a fresh rant is good :-)

Are you trying to out the drum in the bag, or the bag on the drum?

Both ways should work easily IMHO, but don't with these bags because
the top doesn't flip over enough to fully "open" the bag. I usually
like to "put the drum in the bag" with all my other bags, which open
and stand-up-straight on their own nice-nice. This one drum is a
special case, tho, because it's a shallow 7.5"x18" kick (Taye Go Kit),
so it's really hard to put the bag over the drum. I hope with a
little practice I can handle the drum with one hand and keep the bag
up and open with the other hand + a knee. I also put the snare case
in the same kick bag to reduce the number of bags to carry.

It's not rocket-science... but I was just in a mood and pissed at the
bag when I first posted. Lot's of other more important things have
definitely made this much more trivial to me now... so I'll just buy
another bag someday if it becomes a pain.
