What do you all use to make your backing track beats? I had been using
Reason's drum module, but it's a bit clunky. I just found iDrum, and it
is really easy to mix up a great backing track, then bounce down as an
aiff stereo file. It also works inside DAWs using Remix, athough I
haven't tried that yet.

Lately I've been working with Drum Rack in Ableton Live. It's probably
my favorite "DAW," because it's not at all set up like one.

Sometimes I drive it with my SPD-20, but now I've got TouchOSC set up
on my iPhone to control it in Ableton (just using the midi learn, it
was actually outrageously easy), and I have 8 pads set up on the phone
to trigger the different sounds, recording in a loop.

I've used iDrum a bit, but somehow I never come away with something I
like.
