This is THE rare, long out of print, concise, spiral bound book
printed in England by the Premier Drum Co. in 1968, not widely
distributed in America. It's in good condition, no creases or torn or
missing pages, but a couple of small insignificant stains. A vintage
book, considered the Gospel by the swingingest drummers out there
today, this IS the Gutenberg Bible of Brush Magic!
Dig:
Elvin Jones says:
"I personally feel that this book supplies a long felt need. Having
gone through the book, I recognize it to be invaluable to all drummers
in the development of their brushwork - thanks to Philly Joe Jones."
Max Roach says:
"Drummers have long admired the variety and quality of the brush
strokes that Philly Joe Jones here passes on to all drummers -
aspiring and established alike. Many of his close friends (I being one
of them) have continually asked him to set them down on paper. At last
Philly has done just this, and in doing so gives us a book which I
consider to be an essential part of any drummers equipment."

In the author's preface, Philly Joe says, "With the exception of No.1
(the conventional stroke all drummers use), each stroke is original."
So, these are some fantastic insights to the complex, artistic, and
challenging rhythmic psyche of the brilliant, world champion brush
artisan, Philly Joe Jones!
